Employing a nanny for the first time can be daunting, especially if you've never employed someone before. Nannytax want to help make the process as smooth as possible for you, so we’ve listed some of the top things you need to consider...

I’ve found a nanny – what happens next?

Don’t worry Nannytax can help you with all of these things as part of The Nannytax Payroll Service

1

Check the employee has the right to work in the UK.

Simply check an ID document (e.g. passport or visa.)

2

Discuss a gross salary with your employee.

Many nannies want a net salary but we recommend agreeing a gross for numerous reasons.

3

Find out the total cost of employing a nanny.

Your total cost will include your employee's gross wage, employer's NI, and possible pension contributions.

4

Get a contract of employment in place.

Nannytax will create a bespoke contract for you as part of our service.

5

Register as an employer with HMRC.

Nannytax will do this for you as part of our service.
