Known officially as the Common Core Skills and Knowledge for the Children's Workforce, or The Common Core for short. Implemented by the Children's Workforce Development Council, it demonstrates a set of values for Childcare Practioners to work by.

What will it include?

This type of training is designed to build on nannies' existing work experience and knowledge, with a focus on improving and developing the skills required to work with children, young people and families.

It is also suitable for unqualified home-based child-carers wishing to register with Ofsted.

  • Communicating with children, young people, their parents and carers
  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child
  • Supporting transitions
  • Multi-agency working
  • Sharing information
  • Knowing your rights and responsibilities
  • Professional development

Where can I find a course?

There are many organisations providing training in the Common Core Skill.

At Nannytax we recommend Babyem, a childcare training provider based in the South East.

Babyem also provide a variety of courses to help with Ofted registration and paediatric first aid courses.
